Art Brief: In the Hebrew Bible, Amos was one of the Twelve Minor Prophets who wrote about the social injustice in his times. The blue face in the painting seems calm and composed at first glance but has strong undertones of turmoil. The horns and the eyes being covered by the volcano depict the disregard of man under the influence of a false sense of peace. The talon-like growths on the face give a sense of strongly rooted inner determination against social injustices like the ones Amos fought against. Kunal gives a beautiful yet haunting face to Amos’s story.
